Fortune Valley was originally developed and managed by Harveys Casino Resorts in 1994 at a location approximately 35 miles west of Denver. The property is located in Central City, which is one of three historical mining towns approved for limited stakes gaming in Colorado, and one of two that services the Denver metropolitan market. In recent years, this Central City/Black Hawk market has been one of the fastest growing gaming markets in the country. Fortune Valley Hotel & Casino has approximately 37,000 square feet of gaming space and 118 guest rooms.

Harveys Casino Resorts was sold in July of 2001, and Centaur purchased Fortune Valley from Harrah's in 2003.

Key to the property’s current success was the development of the Central City Parkway, which connects the town of Central City to Interstate 70 and its direct route to Denver. The parkway opened in November 2004 after Centaur worked with city leaders and its business improvement district to arrange financing for this eight-mile, four-lane road.
