Joseph M. DeRosaAs general manager, Joe DeRosa will oversee the development at Valley View Downs & Casino in western Pennsylvania.
Joe has more than 30 years’ experience in the gaming industry in the three largest domestic markets and Native American gaming. Throughout his career, he has direct experience in financing, development and operations of both start up operations and expansion programs.
Most recently, Joe served as executive vice president of operations at the Las Vegas Hilton and general manager of Resorts East Chicago Casino Hotel, both owned by Resorts International. In his role in East Chicago, he converted the property from a Harrah’s brand and developed extensive loyalty programs, resulting in the property’s current-day success. As general manager of Fantasy Springs Casino in California, Joe took the leading role in introducing class III gaming and developing a resort that included a 12-story hotel tower, golf course and a 4,500-seat entertainment/convention center.
Earlier in his career, Joe ascended through the ranks of the Trump organization to become senior vice president of operations and assistant general manager of Trump Indiana, a riverboat hotel casino located south of Chicago. An integral part of its launch, Joe worked extensively on the property’s design and development. He created and implemented training programs for more than 1,000 gaming and support employees. As a former high school math teacher, Joe understands the importance of staff training and mentoring to ensure an enjoyable experience for guests and a meaningful career path for employees. As director of gaming at Casino Career Institute in Atlantic City, he designed and conducted seminars on oversight, protection and auditing of gaming operations to hundreds of regulatory officials.
Additionally, Joe has been involved with arranging the financing for numerous projects and has played substantive roles involving legislative and regulatory activities.
Joe is a graduate of Glassboro State College, now known as Rowan University.
