President and Chief Operating Officer
As President and Chief Operating Officer, Jim Brown oversees all gaming and racing operations for Centaur Gaming’s properties.
Joining Centaur Gaming in 2007 as Hoosier Park Racing & Casino’s General Manager of Gaming, Jim oversaw the start up of gaming operations at Hoosier Park. Opened as a Standardbred and Thoroughbred horse racing track in 1994, Hoosier Park debuted in June 2008 a Las Vegas-style, 92,000 square-foot building just north of Indianapolis. Jim was appointed President and Chief Operating Officer of Centaur in May 2011.
Jim brings more than 30 years of gaming and racing experience to Centaur, including solid operating experience in multiple jurisdictions. He also has direct experience in overall facility planning, development, and construction, including oversight of multiple opening and expansion-related projects.
Prior to joining Centaur Gaming, Jim served 12 successful years as President and General Manager of Casino Aztar Evansville, Indiana’s first riverboat casino, opening the facility in 1995. He also held senior management positions at Aztar’s New Jersey and Nevada properties during his 21-year tenure with the company.
Jim also remains deeply involved in community and industry activities. He serves on the Madison County United Way Board of Directors and recently completed a two-year stint as their annual Campaign Chairman. Jim also serves on the Indiana Chamber of Commerce board of directors, the Anderson/Madison County Convention and Visitors Bureau board of directors and as Chairman of the board of directors for the Casino Association of Indiana, a position he has held since 2002. Jim is a graduate of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business and holds a B.S. in Management and Administration.
